Frank van Tubergen (1976) is Professor at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University. His research interests include social networks, religion, ethnic intermarriageand interethnic friendships, language acquisition of immigrants, schooling and employment. His work appeared in American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Social Forces, Demography, European Sociological Review, International Migration Review and Social Science Research (for full CV go here).

Van Tubergen received several awards and grants for his research. For his PhD thesis (2005), he received the Ruigrok award from the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (2006) and the two-yearly PhD thesis award from the Dutch Sociological Association (2007). He received a VENI (2005) and VIDI (2009) grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). In 2010, the European Academy of Sociology awarded him the prize for best article. In the same year, he received the IPUMS-USA Research Award of the Minnesota Population Center for best published work.

Van Tubergen is a member of the European Academy of Sociology, the Young Academy of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) and the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER).

Van Tubergen is actively involved in several large-scale longitudinal data collections. In 2009, the European commission (6th Framework Programme), funded two major cross- national, longitudinal surveys in Europe, of which he is co-applicant and co-investigator: Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study in Four European Countries (CILS4EU), and Causes and consequences of early socio-cultural integration processes among new immigrants in Europe (SCIP).
